Goat Mountain Kids Centre is filled with carefully sourced products, to ensure a natural setting that promotes exploration, stimulation of the senses, and much more. Part of the start-up grant received for the development of the centre included funds for an indigenous drum, to support indigenous learning and cultural celebration. We were so fortunate to be connected with Darkwood Drums, located in Chilliwack, BC, where owner Greg (featured here) poured his heart and soul into the building of this very unique, very special drum. This handmade drum (32″ across, 16″ high), stand, and mallets are now at Goat Mountain Kids Centre, brought to life by the children and caregivers. A visitor from the Circle of Indigenous Nations Society in Castlegar helped awaken on May 19, 2021 and Greg (Darkwood Drums) visited the centre in August 2021 to tell the story of how it was made and share some music with the children.
